TOSC lost an exceptional partner and friend with the passing of Phil R. Taylor on August 16th, 2020. Phil exemplified the meaning of a true gentleman in all aspects of his life.
A medical malpractice lawyer for most of his career, Phil earned a reputation as a lawyer of superior intellect, a ferocious advocate, and a persistent negotiator. Phil’s storytelling was second to none. From humorous tales of his youth growing up in Macon, Georgia, to very colorful legal war stories that left you in tears from laughter and yearning for more, Phil was someone you genuinely enjoyed spending time with and being in his company.
Phil’s vita was impressive, including serving as a JAG officer for ten (10) years, as a member of the Georgia legislature, and as a Trustee of Mercer University. Professionally, Phil, an AV-rated lawyer, held appointments with the American Judicature Society; the American Society of Law and Medicine; the American Board of Trial Advocates (Advocate), and the American Academy of Healthcare Attorneys.
While professionally, Phil had great success, Phil considered his most significant accomplishments as his daughters – Emily and Lester. They were indeed the “apple of his eye” in all respects. As of his passing, Phil cherished time with his family, including six (6) grandchildren and two (2) great-grandchildren.
Phil was also passionate about spending time with friends and, a true renaissance man, having a love for art, travel, and music.
